My guess is that the type of person who will read this book is likely to be fully-conversant with the history of Women's struggle, so really doesn't need to hear it all again. Her sub-titles should more accurately be 'How women got here, and where women might go next'. As a male with strong feminist sympathies, I nevertheless felt excluded. As a female who worked in AI and related areas for many years, I can attest that she gets her facts right, both the theory and the social side of things. But there is much in this book that goes beyond AI, and I learned a lot. As always, Winterson's writing is a work of art and a joy to read, though much of the content is disturbing, inevitably, as she surveys our tech- and resource-divided world.
